Projektbeskrivning

Dolphin structure, a mooring structure in the harbour consisting of several poles that are bound together at the top and driven into the ground at the base.

Dolphins were used in log driving as an anchor point for booms.

In common usage, the Swedish word dykdalb derives from the Dutch hertigen av Alba (Duke of Alba), who is said to have used such moorings in Dutch channels.

The dolphin structure here is meant to symbolise collaboration and solidarity between Holmsund and Obbola, and to serve as a reminder of the significance of trees and log driving to this part of the municipality.
