Project Description

Sean Henry: Standing Man

Rådhustorget

This oil-painted bronze sculpture is a piece of trompe l’oeil that deceives the eye through its hyper-realistic appearance. Despite its enlarged size, Standing Man melts into the river of people passing by. No one knows who he is, where he comes from or where he is going. He stands here, summer and winter, bare-headed and wearing a coat. But on chilly days, thoughtful residents dress him in gloves, a scarf and a hat. Standing Man is a free-standing sculpture viewable from all directions with a twin brother in the sculpture park in Umedalen.
